Amphitrite Point Light House and Coast Guard Station
Amphitrite Point Light House was established as a beckon to vessels in 1906, later hit by a tsunami (tidal wave) in 1914. The tower was rebuilt in 1915 and remains operational today. Visitors may access the grounds, but not the lighthouse itself. Views of the migrating whales during March and April and the storms in the winter are spectacular from Amphitrite Point. The adjacent Coast Guard centre oversees ocean-going traffic.
